Born in Florida on a small family farm, Amelia, also known by her Yupik name Tutmalria, has had a profound connection with animals from the earliest moments of her life. Her journey with these majestic creatures commenced practically as soon as she could walk, with her first foray into the show ring at the tender age of 4, and acquiring her first pony at age 5, Snoopy who was only 6 months old. Amelia still has him today. As the youngest member in the Pinellas County Florida 4-H Equine Science, Amelia was constantly immersed in learning, her innate desire to aid others coupled with an unyielding work ethic propelled her forward. By the age of 13, she proudly purchased her first rescue Mustang mare. Following her high school graduation at just 16, Amelia trotted into higher education, pursuing a dual major in Equine Science and Zoology, with a minor in Archaeology. Throughout her academic journey, she continued to embrace her indigenous roots, incorporating traditional wisdom into her equine training methods.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Amelia's life revolves around horses, from training and teaching to competing in barrel racing competitions and cowboy shooting. She extends her expertise through hosting clinics at stables across the United States, enriching the equestrian community with her knowledge and passion.
Outside the arena, Amelia finds solace in nature, hiking the White Mountains with her faithful canine companions. An avid writer, she contributes to various magazines and is diligently crafting her first book, all while savoring an iced coffee.
Today, at the age of 30, Amelia stands as a testament to her heritage as a third-generation indigenous farmer and horse trainer. Her multifaceted expertise extends beyond horsemanship; she is also a certified archaeological field technician and an animal aromatherapist. Amelia seamlessly integrates her indigenous background into her training philosophy, fostering a deeper connection between horse and human rooted in cultural tradition and respect.
Amelia serves on the USDA Country Committee, and The Strafford County Farm Bureau Committee, she is also part of the WPRA, IBRA, APRA, NBHA, MHF, USSA, and IAC.
